This may be what actual UFOs look like?!
1 year ago617 words
I made a 3D model of a bizarre UFO described both by a recent whistleblower (to be?) AND an account from two or three decades ago!

I'm intrigued by whether or not aliens are out there and what they're like, but I'm less interested in making sense of the tangled bureaucracy of US politics and military ranks. So what I know is that someone called David Grusch came out recently claiming some secret faction is in possession of at least a dozen crashed or retrieved alien craft - some more intact than others - and he's given the names of the places and people involved to Congress... or something. But who exactly said what or what happens next isn't clear to me.

Other people are talking about this too, and ∞ among them is an investigative journalist who claims to have had contact with some other people in the know who may potentially blow their whistles about all this too ∞.

...Or at least that's what I've gleaned by trying to dig up where this rather intriguing quote I've seen floating around r/UFOs came from:

One source described having seen three kinds of craft, including one shaped like a triangle and another that “looked like a chopped up helicopter, with the front bubble of a Huey helicopter, with the plastic windows, or more like a deep sea submarine, with a thick piece of glass bubble shaped, and where the tail rudder should have been, it was a black, egg-shaped pancake, and instead of landing gear it had upside-down rams horns that went from the top to the bottom and rested on the ends of the horns.”

Our minds would naturally assume - when picturing 'retrieved alien craft' - a hangar full of familiar-looking flying saucers, so this very different and very specific description piqued my interest. It sounded so very alien, and hard to make any sense of.

A couple of days after first encountering it, I saw another post which linked to ∞ this (ancient-looking) website which gives an excessively detailed account of a video of a UFO ∞, including this schematic image interpreted from the footage:

(Actually this seems to be a cleaned-up version of the original schematic drawing from ∞ this Reddit post ∞.)

And this seems to be the (blurry, difficult-to-interpret) footage the analysis is of:

I can't make sense of most of it, but the most interesting part seems to begin around the 4 minute mark?

Though I'm familiar with maybe most of the big UFO cases, I don't remember seeing this one before.

Anyway, long story short, I used the schematic diagrams to try and make a (fairly primitive) 3D model of my own:

It's not entirely accurate to the schematic drawings, but they were based on blurry footage of a craft that apparently changed shape anyway so it was never going to be a perfect reproduction of what this thing - if it's real - actually looked (or looks) like. If it is alien, it might not even have a fixed shape as we know it anyway (some people speculated it could be a 4D thing extending into 3D; who knows).

That original footage is from 1994, which I find intriguing. Is that lining up with this recently-given description a good sign truth is being told, or an indication that they used existing UFO lore to fabricate a story? The answer to that depends on your pre-existing beliefs, most likely!

The first thing that comes to mind when looking at the schematic it seems more like a creature hunched over and hugging their knees. I am heavily reminded of the robots from The Studio Ghibli movie Castle in the Sky. Their resting mode is a different form than their active form. So with the movement, maybe the "space craft" is actually a form they take to travel.

The closest analogous thing to Earth creatures would be like the sailfish, where its large fin can lie flat or extend to control its speed.

A video game analogy would be like how Deoxys can change forms and come across more strongly when compared to the movie movement.

I personally believe that we are the antient civilization that will confound and awe future life. But I am open for the possibility that we are not alone.

Ok, so maybe i've watched too much transformers or anime about mecha, but that definitely looks like some kind of humanoid robot crouching.

I'd imagine if commanded to it can just strand straight and walk ?

Also, there currently is a theory that tries to explain how they can be so many descriptions that match throughout the years: the aliens traveled through time.
EG, it's 2030 for them, and a whole fleet is asked to study humanity. To do it faster, they travel to Earth but at different times. Spaceship 1 goes to 3000 BC earth; spaceship 2 goes 100 years after that, and so on.
Then all ships come back to their home planet in 2030, and hand a report on what they observed.
In the span of a very short alien time, they get knowledge of thousands of years of human history. And they are sighted every now and then in earth time.

Something I've noticed from showing this to people is that most people try and relate it to something familiar (often something crude).

And I'd say it's not too different when people wonder about how supposed alien sightings could fit with what we already know about reality ("it'd take them too long to get here", "why would they care about us?", "they must travel through time").

It's very difficult for us to imagine truly alien concepts, designs, or abilities in the same way it would have been beyond the Ancient Egyptians to conceive of VR AI sex bots. They're probably as incomprehensible as our behaviour and technology is to our pets. The internet isn't just slightly outside a dog's comprehension, it's in an entirely different universe, and the dog wouldn't even have the capacity to understand it no matter how hard it tried.

Going by that logic, isn't it very human to imagine aliens traveling through space in a spaceship ?

That's how WE thought of doing it, but maybe aliens have other means of transportation, especially if their body structure is different.

Yes, it's like telling someone from hundreds of years ago that you just sent a message to someone on the other side of the planet, and they scoff at how impractical that is because it takes months to sail that far by ship. The 'travel' via the internet that our world pretty much runs on is incomprehensible to them because it uses technology they've yet to even imagine.
